Abstract

Abstract: This article presents an educational pathway that integrates reading, embodied expression, and inclusion within school settings. The project stems from the experience of a dancer and choreographer with a background in classical studies and law. Following years of work with people with disabilities and inclusive workshops commissioned by the Municipality of Florence, the initiative Libro in Azione (“Book in Action”) took shape and has been implemented in Florentine schools for the past fifteen years. The workshop merges literary analysis with movement-based practices, promoting the body as a medium for interpreting and emotionally engaging with literary texts. Through collective reading, movement improvisation, and role-play, the program fosters the development of a personal corporeal language, values expressive diversity, and encourages the cultivation of empathetic relationships among students. The process culminates in the creation of a Class Diary – Body Memory, a reflective documentation of the embodied learning experience
